I was asked to paint a commission for a forge in the Pittsburgh area. I got to visit the site and view the forge in operation, talk to the workers, take photos, make sketches, and spend enough time to understand the operation. The painting was a compilation of several of those photos, with a good deal of simplification and artistic license to make a good composition. In fact I liked the painting so well, I decided to make it in fabric too. Both are completed now.
