Day 12

Day 12

In rural areas the excitement mounts toward the time of mail delivery. For shut-ins, the mail plus the TV represent contact with the outside world. In our household, my 89 year old mother-in-law lives with us, and never fails to ask, “Did someone check the mail today?”
More often than not, our rush to do so is less eager than this stampede of wildly colorful horses, with cats and monkeys on their backs, and fruits and flora spinning in all directions. Her reminder is what we need to trek out to the bottom of the driveway to bring in the stack of mail.
But for her, the excitement is more like what this piece represents.
The title is Mail Stamp-ede, and the size is 12.5 x 19.75. Needless to say, in a series about including ordinary objects in my environment, the mail box is that object.
This is Day 12 of the 30 Paintings in 30 Days Challenge.
